01Who we are

Amped Electrical is a trading name of Amped Engineering (Pty) Ltd, a family-owned electrical contractor based in George, South Africa. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you use this website or contact us, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

02Information we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you and do the work you ask for. This may include:

• Your name, phone number and email address
• Your physical address or the address of the property where work is needed
• Details about your project, the service you need and any photos you send us
• Messages you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp
• Basic technical information such as your browser type and the pages you visit, collected automatically by our hosting provider

Giving us your information is voluntary, but we need at least your name and a way to contact you to respond to your request. If you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to give you a quote or do the work.

03How we use your information

• To respond to quote requests and enquiries
• To plan, carry out and invoice electrical work
• To issue Certificates of Compliance and keep the records the law requires
• To contact you about your job, follow-up maintenance or warranty matters
• To keep this website secure and working properly

We will never sell your personal information. We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.

04Why we are allowed to use it

We process your information because you asked us to (for example by submitting the quote form), because it is needed to carry out a contract with you, because the law requires it (such as compliance and tax records), or because we have a legitimate interest in running and protecting our business.

05Sharing your information

We only share your information when we need to, and only with:

• Our staff and subcontractors who are working on your job
• Service providers that help us run the business, such as our email, hosting and accounting providers
• Suppliers or municipalities, where needed to complete your installation
• Authorities, regulators or insurers when the law requires it

Anyone we share information with is expected to keep it confidential and secure.

Some of our service providers, such as email and cloud hosting, may store information on servers outside South Africa. We only use providers that are subject to data protection laws or agreements that give your information a level of protection similar to POPIA.

06Cookies and similar technologies

This website uses a small number of cookies and browser storage items that it needs to work:

• A session cookie and a security token that protect the quote form from misuse
• A setting that remembers whether you chose English or Afrikaans

Some pages show content from Google Maps and YouTube. When you view or play that content, those services may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. We do not use advertising cookies.

07How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. Records linked to completed work, invoices and Certificates of Compliance are generally kept for at least five years. Quote requests that do not go ahead are deleted once they are no longer needed.

08Keeping it safe

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including secure (HTTPS) connections and restricted access to our systems. No way of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to protect what you share with us.

If a security breach affects your personal information, we will let you and the Information Regulator know as POPIA requires.

09Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct or update your information
• Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
• Object to us using your information for certain purposes, including direct marketing
• Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on your consent
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

11Children

This website and our services are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
