01About these terms
These terms apply to your use of this website and to quotes and electrical work provided by Amped Engineering (Pty) Ltd, trading as Amped Electrical. By using this website or accepting a quote from us, you agree to these terms.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other law that cannot be excluded.
02Using this website
- The content on this website is for general information only and may change without notice.
- Prices, examples and FAQ answers are a guide only. Your written quote is what counts.
- You may not misuse the website, including trying to gain unauthorised access, sending spam through our forms or copying our content for commercial use.
- Links to other websites, such as Google Maps or social media, are there for convenience. We are not responsible for their content.
03Quotes
- Before we do any work, we will give you a quote or estimate and only go ahead once you have approved it.
- Quotes are based on the information available to us at the time, including any site visit, photos or details you provide.
- Unless stated otherwise, quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued.
- If we find hidden faults, non-compliant existing wiring or conditions we could not reasonably have seen, we will explain the issue and only do extra work, or charge more than the estimate, once you have approved it.
- Material prices can change. If a supplier increases prices significantly before your job starts, we will let you know before going ahead.
04Call-outs and site visits
- A call-out or assessment fee may apply to site visits, diagnostics and fault finding. We will tell you about any fee, including a fee for preparing an estimate, before we come out.
- Emergency and after-hours call-outs are charged at emergency rates.
- Please make sure we have safe access to the property, the work area and the distribution board at the agreed time.
05Payment
- A deposit may be required before work starts, particularly for larger jobs, solar installations and special-order materials.
- Payment terms are shown on your quote or invoice. Unless agreed otherwise, invoices are payable on completion of the work.
- Materials and equipment remain our property until they have been paid for in full.
- Certificates of Compliance are issued once the installation passes inspection and the account has been settled.
06Certificates of Compliance
- A Certificate of Compliance (COC) confirms that the electrical installation complied with the applicable regulations at the time of inspection.
- If an installation does not pass, we will give you a list of the remedial work needed and a quote to complete it.
- A COC does not cover changes, damage or additions made by others after it was issued.
07Workmanship warranty
- We stand behind our work. In line with the Consumer Protection Act, new or reconditioned parts we install during repair or maintenance work, and the labour to install them, are covered for at least three months from the date of installation. Your quote or invoice may give a longer period.
- Equipment such as inverters, batteries, panels and appliances is also covered by the manufacturer's warranty. We will help you with any claim.
- The warranty does not cover misuse, abuse, ordinary wear and tear, or damage caused by lightning, power surges, water, pests or work done by others.
08Cancellations and changes
- You may cancel or reschedule a booking. Please give us at least 24 hours' notice. A reasonable cancellation charge may apply to late cancellations, as the Consumer Protection Act allows.
- If you cancel after materials have been ordered or work has started, you will be charged for the work done and for special-order materials that cannot be returned.
- Changes to the scope of work after you accept a quote may change the price and timeline. We will confirm any changes with you first.
09Our responsibility
We carry out all work with reasonable care and skill, in line with SANS 10142 and the applicable regulations. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of income or data, or for delays caused by things outside our control, including weather, load-shedding, supplier delays and municipal approvals.
This does not limit our responsibility for harm caused by our negligence, or any responsibility that cannot be excluded by law.
10Complaints
If you are unhappy with our work or service, please contact us first so we can put it right. If we cannot resolve it together, you may approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) or the National Consumer Commission.
11Privacy
We handle your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page applies from the date shown at the top.
